Pro Ana Sites

Pro Ana sites are websites that see anorexia and other eating disorders as a lifestyle choice rather than an illness. They typically feature "thinspo" or "thinspiration" which can take the form of tips on how to starve yourself or pictures of anorexic girls with protruding bones. These sites are made by people will anorexia. They do not help people to recover, but instead enourage them to think that skinny is beautiful. Girls as young as eleven and twelve use the sites and other girls tell them not to eat and give them tips on how to decieve their parents.
My view is definately that these sites are wrong and should be banned. I can see that it can help ED sufferers to know they are not alone, but they don't encourage recovery, they encourage girls to continue to become ill and put their health at risk. The tips they give out are dangerous, and its scary that young girls and boys can find these sites with a click of a button. Impressionable young people might easily believe the things they think are true.
